Information About My Classes

Students start with a basic Introduction to Art class in which we learn a little bit about art history and appreciation (What is the artist’s role in society? What is Art? What are things that influence artists? etc.) through lecture/PowerPoint presentation, reading and class discussion.  We also do hands-on projects to reinforce the concepts we discuss.  If students want a more in-depth study of the art concepts, they can enroll in either 2-dimensional Art I, II, & III (covering drawing, painting, printmaking); or 3-dimensional Art I, II, & III (covering sculpture, ceramics, jewelry).

As a senior, students can enroll in Independent  Study in Art, in which they concentrate on a particular theme, medium, or style of art.  I recommend it for students who think they will be taking art courses in college.

Assignments and Projects—I’ll be adding to this list as we progress through the semester so that students and parents can see what the current assignments are. (If I don’t get them added here, the assignments are listed in Campus, and students have a list posted in the classroom of all projects and other work assigned along with date assigned and date due.)
