This is
such an exciting time of year, especially for our seniors who have earned the
privilege of walking across the stage at graduation. As you know, this is a
time of great honor where we recognize twelve years of hard work and dedication
on both the parts of the students and the parents. In order to have a ceremony
that honors the graduates in a way that they deserve, I need to ask you to help
out in the following ways:
- If
possible, please consider this a dress-up occasion. While formal wear is
not suggested, dressing nicely helps to create the dignified atmosphere we
need to properly honor our graduates.
- Please
be respectful of our speakers by not creating conversation during the
speeches. A number of students have worked very hard to create and present
meaningful presentations, and we want to honor their efforts.
- Please
keep young children seated with you at all times. Children left to run
free, especially on the balcony above the gym floor, can cause
distractions to the ceremony, as well as being a safety issue.
- Please
discuss with your graduating students that this is indeed a distinguished
ceremony, and items such as silly string, beach balls, and airhorns take away from the ceremony that they
deserve. While we want graduation to be enjoyable, it is important to
remember that this is a time to respect our graduates and provide them
with a dignified event.
As parents, you are to be commended for the efforts you have
given to your students as they prepare to leave Field Kindley
High School. Your
continued efforts through the end of graduation are greatly appreciated. Please
share this information with family members and friends whom you choose to
invite to this special event.
With thanks,
Ben Smith
Principal, Field Kindley High School
