Elective credits

Field Kindley High School is the traditional high school structured to serve most students.

NADO is an alternative school within the Field Kindley High School organization for students eighteen years of age and younger whose class has not already graduated. Credits earned are recorded on the Field Kindley High School transcript.

LINC is the district alternative program for students eighteen years of age and older whose class has already graduated. Credits approved by the principal from LINC are accepted on the Field Kindley High School transcript. LINC students must have earned at least one full credit in the district to be eligible for a Field Kindley High School diploma and graduation ceremony privileges. Out-of-district students will typically transfer LINC credits to their former local high school for diploma purposes.

NADO, LINC and Field Kindley High School students are encouraged to participate in the graduation ceremonies and are to receive the same diploma, upon meeting "all" graduation requirements.

*In recognition of the fact that the state and district have required lower numbers of total credits for graduation in the past, the LINC students are allowed to earn up to four credits through an independent study course called Life Experience Project/Presentation (LEPP). Each credit "earned through the LINC program" can be matched with equal elective credit earned through LEPP, up to a maximum of four credits ( see table below).

The Life Experience Project/Presentation course is to focus on the authentic, relevant application of course concepts to the student's work or personal life, concluding with a summary presentation. Much of this could be accomplished through the performance projects required for each LINC course. The LINC staff and the Field Kindley High School counselor and principal will serve as each student's project committee. The committee will approve each student's project proposal, with respect to the credits to be earned. The committee will award credit as warranted, at the conclusion of the project/presentation. Students planning to transfer LEPP credits back to their former high school, should request prior approval that they will accepted toward graduation.
