Fifth and sixth grades at Community Elementary achieved the
Standard of Excellence in Reading for the 2012 assessments!
Fifth grade also achieved Standard of Excellence in Math!


Congratulations to Sherri Chittum for being inducted into the Kansas Teacher's Hall of Fame!!!

 

    

  Sherri has been teaching for 28 years- all in USD 445!  The last 14 years she has taught Kindergarten and before that she taught First grade.

USD 445 Awarded Early Childhood Block Grant  

The Kansas Children's Cabinet and Trust Fund has awarded Coffeyville USD #445 the Early Childhood Block Grant (ECBG).  The awarded amount is $997, 339.00, and will be used to provide preschool services for all Coffeyville area four-year-old children.  Tuition costs may apply for some students.

Coffeyville USD 445 is very proud and excited to receive this grant.

Studies have shown that children born in poverty and at high risk of failing in school who attend preschool have higher IQ's, a better chance of graduating high school, and higher lifetime earnings.  Another benefit for students, according to the *study, their basic achievement by age 14 improves by almost 30%.

6th Grade Teachers at Community Elementary received the  "Challenge Award of Recognition," at the January 14th Board Meeting.

   This award recognizes their uncommon accomplishment in closing the achievement                  gap in Reading during the 2011-12 school year!  Congratulations 6th Grade!!!

At the January 14th Board Meeting the Coffeyville VFW for "National Citizenship Teacher of the Year" Award.  

 

Katrina Gulick was presented with the award for grades K-6.   Congratulations!

Sherry Ellis was presented with the award for grades 7-12.  Congratulations!
