Internet Safety

Home

The increasing popularity of social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook, has enabled students to communicate with people from all over the world. These programs are different from a chat rooms. They are message boards where those that have been designated as "friends" can view what has been written and they can respond. Pictures and sometimes very private information is posted and "friends" are added when the student in fact may not know them personally. As educators we need to be aware of how students are using the Internet and how to teach them to be safe.
