I was born in Joplin Missouri but grew up in Edna Kansas. I graduated high school from Labette County high school in 1991. After high school I graduate from Coffeyville Community College and then went to Pittsburg State University were I earned my BSED in Biology and a minor in Physical Science in 1995. Later I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Emporia State. I started my educational career in Butler Missouri were I taught science and coached wrestling and track. After two years at Butler my family and I moved back to Coffeyville to be closer to family. In 1998 I started teaching at Field Kindley High school and also coached wrestling, track and football. In 2005 I moved to Caney so my wife and I could teach in the same district. I also taught science and coached wrestling and track. In 2013 I came back to Coffeyville to be the high school assistant principal and two years later became the current Lead Principal at the high school.

While in college I meet my wife Lora and we had two children Hunter and Colton. We are a family that enjoys sports specifically wrestling. We spent many years driving all over the county wrestling. Both of the boys were fortunate to have successful careers earning multiple state placing and state titles at both the kids and high school level. Spending time with my family, sports and enjoying the great outdoors rounds up my hobbies.

Mrs. Kelsa King

I’m incredibly excited to be back in the USD 445 school district to serve Field Kindley as the new Assistant Principal. I come to FKHS after being an English Language Arts/Social Studies teacher at Labette County for one year. Prior to that, I taught 5th grade at Community Elementary for six years.

Since my role is about building relationships and pushing academic excellence, I'd like to share a bit about myself, both personally and professionally. I was raised in Neodesha, Kansas, where I graduated high school. Many years ago, I started my career path to follow my dream of becoming an educator. I attended Pittsburg State University where I obtained my Bachelors and Masters degrees.

While in college, I met my husband, Andrew, who is a Field Kindley graduate. We now have two sons, Truitt and Tyce. As a family, we enjoy going to the lake, having family movie nights, being outside, and attending sporting events. Personally, I enjoy exercising, socializing, and being with family and friends.

During my transition into this role, I look forward to working with each and every one of you. I am eager to listen to and learn from you, our students, and our staff and to share my areas of strength. Through my experiences, I have learned that communication with all stakeholders is key to ensuring students’ success. As your assistant principal, I will bring that spirit of collaboration, as I build relationships with my new FKHS family. I am excited about the possibilities this school year will bring and am proud to be part of this school community.

Coffeyville has always had a piece of my heart, and I am beyond thrilled to be returning. GO NADO! 💜💛

Mr. Wade Welch

I'm excited to join the #Nado family in Coffeyville as Assistant Principal/Activities Director at Field Kindley High School!  I am coming from Osawatomie where I have worked the last 16 years as a teacher, assistant technology director, and assistant principal/activities director.  During my time in Osawatomie I also had the opportunity to coach baseball, football, basketball, and scholars bowl prior to moving into administration.  In addition to teaching, I've also worked as a KSHSAA official for both football and basketball.  During those years, I was fortunate enough to work state championship football games and state basketball tournaments.

I am married to a FKHS graduate from the class of 2001, Anne (Miesner) Welch. We love spending time with our dog, traveling, and watching live music.  More casual hobbies include riding my bike, playing golf, cooking, and spending time with our family.

I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities in Coffeyville and will strive to do everything I can to make sure USD #445 continues to serve the needs of the community and its students!
