District Leadership

Dr. Craig A. Correll has served as Superintendent of Schools for Coffeyville Public Schools (USD 445) since 2015, bringing more than 29 years of public education leadership to the district. Prior to becoming superintendent, he served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction (2008–2015) and as Principal of Bartlett K–8 School (2003–2008), following earlier work as a middle school science and technology teacher.

Under his leadership, Coffeyville Public Schools secured a federal grant to establish an onsite school-based health clinic in partnership with the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, providing students access to nurse practitioners, nursing services, dental care, and mental health supports. He has also led cross-sector early childhood initiatives and forged partnerships with higher education and health institutions, including collaboration with the University of Kansas Medical Center, to advance trauma-informed and health-informed practices throughout the district. Among his notable initiatives are the founding of the Coffeyville Public Schools Alumni Association, the Age to Age intergenerational program, and an innovative kindergarten classroom housed within a local nursing home facility that has drawn international recognition for its impact on student and resident wellbeing.

Dr. Correll is widely recognized across Kansas for his leadership in legislative advocacy on behalf of public education. He has served as President of the Kansas School Superintendents Association (2021–2023) and currently chairs its Legislative Committee. He is a board member of both the Kansas School Superintendents Association and the United School Administrators of Kansas, and has held a Governor's appointment to the Kansas Education Council, where he co-chaired the Early Childhood Subcommittee. He currently serves as a Board Director of Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, and his community leadership extends to chairing the Coffeyville Coalition for Early Education, a 501(c)(3) organization, and serving on the Coffeyville Chamber of Commerce Board.

His contributions to education in Kansas have been recognized with several honors, including Kansas Superintendent of the Year (2022), the Dr. Cindy Lane Advocacy Award from the 

Kansas School Superintendents Association (2026), and the Outstanding Service Award from the United School Administrators of Kansas (2025).

Dr. Correll holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Kansas, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Pittsburg State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, also from Pittsburg State University.

Outside of his professional work, Dr. Correll is a musician who plays guitar in a rock band and maintains an extensive vinyl record collection. He, his wife Shana and their five-year-old granddaughter split time between their home in Coffeyville and a property on Grand Lake near Grove, Oklahoma.
